Visa Requirements - EGYPT

VISA TYPES

Single entry visa (Tourism) USD $25 pp

Multiple entries visa (Tourism) USD $60 pp

VISA ON ARRIVAL

Many visitors to Egypt (including Australian Passport holders) can obtain their visa at the airport on arrival.

It must be paid in US dollars - cash only.

At present, the cost is USD $25 pp. It is valid for a single entry visit no longer than 30 days.

E-VISA - APPLYING ONLINE

The Egypt e-Visa is an electronic visa that can be done online prior to travel.

It allows eligible travellers to enter and travel within Egypt for tourism purposes.

The visa process can take 2 to 7 days however we recommend applying much earleir to avoid delays.

The e-visa is valid for 90 days from the day the visa is granted and is eligible for stays up to 30 days.

Be sure to print your E-Visa to present on arrival.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proof of an outbound flight

  • Intended place of stay (accommodation)

  • Itinerary on request

Visa exception: For visits to Sharm el-Sheikh (and other Sinai resorts like Dahab, Nuweiba, and Taba), a visa is not required for stays of 15 days or less. For stays longer than 15 days, or if you plan to travel outside these resorts, a visa is needed.

Passport requirements

To enter Egypt your Passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival date.

There should be at least one blank page in your passport.

Health, Medicines & Vaccinations

MEDICATION

Not all medication available over the counter or by prescription in your home country are available in these countries. Consider bringing enough medication to cover your entire trip. Some medications may even be considered illegal.

VACCINATIONS

It is the responsibility of each traveller to check the current vaccination requirements to enter Egypt.

Vaccination requirements will depend on what areas you plan to visit while in Egypt, your current health status and where you have travelled to before entering Egypt.

  • A Yellow fever certificate is required for anyone who is arriving from a country where Yellow Fever is widespread.

Travel Insurance

Imagine getting caught out in another country without any travel insurance. Things could get very costly indeed.

We therefore require all travellers be covered with comprehensive insurance.

You will be asked to sign an International Travel Waiver to ensure you are aware of this requirement as part of our terms and conditions.

Other requirements

When entering and exiting Egypt, you can bring a maximum of 5,000 Egyptian Pounds (EGP) in cash. For this reason, we recommend obtaining local currency on arrival.

There is no limit to the amount of foreign currency you can bring, but amounts exceeding USD 10,000 or equivalent must be declared to customs upon arrival.
