Today you will make you way to Siwa via air-conditioned vehicle.
Embark on an unforgettable 4-day journey from the bustling metropolis of Cairo to the serene Siwa Oasis. This tour offers a unique blend of Egypt's diverse landscapes and rich history.
Day one involves an early morning departure from Cairo. The drive to Siwa is approximately 750 km (around 9-10 hours), primarily heading west.
En- route, we'll make a stop at El Alamein War Cemetery and Museum as well as a stop for lunch in Marsa Matuh. While the focus is on reaching Siwa, the changing desert scenery offers a glimpse into Egypt's vast Western Desert.
Upon arrival in Siwa, you'll settle into your accommodation and prepare to explore this unique oasis with its ancient history, salt lakes, and lush palm groves in the following days.

SIWA TOWN
Discover the charming heart of Siwa Oasis, a traditional mud-brick settlement clustered around the iconic Shali Fortress. Wander through its narrow, winding alleyways, where local life unfolds at a relaxed pace. Explore the bustling marketplace, a vibrant hub of activity where you can find traditional crafts, dates, and local produce. Experience the authentic culture and warm hospitality of the Siwan people as you immerse yourself in this unique desert town.
GEBEL EL MAWTA (Mountain of the Dead)
Explore the temple's well-preserved ruins, including its impressive columns and hieroglyphic inscriptions
Rising just outside the main town of Siwa, Gebel El Mawta—meaning “Mountain of the Dead”—is a honeycomb of rock-cut tombs dating back to the 26th Dynasty, Ptolemaic, and Roman periods. This limestone hill served as a burial ground for centuries, and today visitors can explore several remarkably preserved tombs with faded yet vivid wall paintings that offer a glimpse into Siwa’s ancient funerary traditions.

As the sun sets, the sky transforms into a vibrant orange-red hue, creating a picturesque scene and the perfect end to the day.

SHALI FORTRESS
Witness the iconic heart of Siwa at the Shali Fortress, the remnants of the old mud-brick town that once housed the entire oasis population.
Built in the 13th century from karshef (a mix of salt, mud, and clay), the fortress was a defensive stronghold designed to protect against desert raids.
Wander through its crumbling walls and narrow alleyways, imagining the bustling life within its ancient confines. Explore the elevated vantage points for panoramic views of the modern town and surrounding palm groves.
TEMPLE OF AMUN
Step back in time at the Temple of Amun, also known as the Oracle Temple, a significant historical site in Siwa.
Perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the oasis, the temple dates back to the 6th century BCE and was once a powerful religious centre dedicated to the god Amun
This ancient temple was famed for its oracle, which was visited by Alexander the Great. Explore the temple's well-preserved ruins, including its impressive columns and hieroglyphic inscriptions.
SALT LAKES
The Salt Lakes of Siwa are one of the region's most stunning natural wonders. These tranquil, shimmering lakes are surrounded by the vast, golden sands of the desert and are rich in minerals. The water’s high salinity makes it easy to float effortlessly, offering a serene and almost otherworldly experience. Their striking contrast of blue waters against the surrounding white salt flats creates a perfect setting for both relaxation and photography.
DESERT SAFARI TO BIR WAHED
A true highlight of any trip to Siwa, the desert safari to Bir Wahed is an exhilarating escape into the Great Sand Sea. This off-road journey in a 4x4 takes you deep into rolling dunes. Soak in a natural hot spring under the open sky, and watch a desert sunset that feels almost otherworldly. Bir Wahed itself is a warm, sulphur-rich spring surrounded by sand—perfect for a post-safari soak.
