The Great Pyramids of Giza are undoubtedly the most famous ancient wonder in the world. 

Built over 4,500 years ago during the Fourth Dynasty, these colossal structures were designed as eternal resting places for Egypt’s mighty pharaohs. 

The largest, the Pyramid of Khufu — also known as the Great Pyramid — was originally covered in gleaming white limestone casing stones and stood at 146 metres tall, making it the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years.

These colossal structures continue to captivate visitors with their grandeur and ongoing mystery. We’ll spend enough time here to fulfill your bucket list dreams.

Next, visit the Great Sphinx. Carved over 4,500 years ago, this mythical creature has the body of a lion and the head of a pharaoh, and stands tall guarding the Giza Plateau in Egypt.

Grand Egyptian Museum

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), located just outside Cairo near the Giza Pyramids, is the world’s largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilization. 

The GEM is already making waves for its striking modern design and the scale of its collection—over 100,000 ancient Egyptian artifacts, many of which have never been displayed before.

 Its crown jewel is the complete collection of treasures from King Tutankhamun’s tomb, displayed together for the first time in one place.

‍ ‍Constructed by Salah al-Din on the Moqattam Hills in 1183 AD as a defense against Crusader armies, the Citadel is now a preserved historic site of mosques and museums, including the Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha. Its commanding position high above greater Cairo, offers impressive sweeping views of the city and beyond.

‍ ‍Nestled within the vibrant streets of the historic Islamic Cairo district lies an enchanting world of colours, scents, and cultural treasures. The Khan El-Khalili Bazaar is a bustling, vibrant market that has been around for centuries. Famous for its gold souks, visitors can shop for unique pieces and souvenirs through its whimsical laneways. Bartering is expected here, but we’ll happily help you negotiate a fair price if you prefer.

You’ll now be transferred to the airport for the short flight to Aswan.

Abu Simbel is a famous UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its colossal rock-cut temples and four gigantic statues of Ramses II. Holding a commanding position in front of the temple, you will undoubtedly be awe-struck by their sheer presence. Built by Ramses II, these iconic structures stand as a testament to ancient Egyptian civilization, attracting visitors worldwide with their impressive architecture and rich historical significance. The two colossal temples greeting visitors are dedicated to Pharaoh himself and his beloved wife, Queen Nefertari.

Located deep in the southern part of Egypt, this significant archaeological site was relocated during the 1960s to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser and the newly constructed High Dam. This monumental challenge of cutting and moving each piece took some 5 years to complete and ensured the preservation of one of Egypt’s most prized archeological sites.

Philae Temple

Start the day by jumping aboard a motor boat for the short journey to Philae Temple on the island of Agilkia. Dedicated to the goddess Isis, the temple is a testament to Egypt's rich cultural heritage. You’ll hear stories from your Egyptologist guide amidst stunning columns and intricate hieroglyphics that adorn the walls throughout. Rescued from the rising waters of Lake Nasser, the temple was moved to its present location, ensuring its preservation for future generations.

Unfinished Obelisk

The Unfinished Obelisk is an enormous, partially carved granite obelisk dating back to the reign of Queen Hatshepsut. Had it been completed, it would have stood at about 42 meters and weighed nearly 1,200 tons. Its creation was abandoned when cracks appeared in the stone. Today, it offers unique insights into ancient Egyptian stone-working techniques and the immense effort involved in constructing these monumental structures.

Kom Ombo Temple is a unique ancient Egyptian 'double temple' . It features a symmetrical design, with two parallel sanctuaries and halls dedicated to two distinct deities: the falcon-headed god Horus the Elder and the crocodile god Sobek. The temple's architecture includes detailed reliefs depicting daily life, religious rituals, and a notable ancient medical calendar. 

Adjacent to the temple is the Crocodile Museum, which exhibits a collection of mummified crocodiles discovered in the area. These artifacts offer direct insight into ancient Egyptian beliefs and practices concerning the veneration of crocodiles.

The Edfu Temple, located in southern Egypt, is a stunning example of the well-preserved ancient Egyptian architecture. Dedicated to the falcon god Horus, this temple boasts intricate carvings and towering columns.

Continue north towards Luxor, passing through the engineering marvel of Esna Lock. As the boat enters the lock, the gates will be closed, allowing the water level in the lock to adjust to match the level of the river downstream. Once the water level is equalized, the boat can pass through and continue its journey down the river. Be sure to make your way up on the roof deck to capture the moment.

Karnak Temple

On arrival into Luxor, you will be transferred to Karnak Temple. Built over more than a thousand years by generations of Pharaohs. the great “Hypostyle Hall” is an incredible forest of giant pillars, covering an area larger than the whole of Notre Dame Cathedral. One of Egypt’s more prized attractions, Karnak is a spectacular complex of sanctuaries, kiosks, pylons and obelisks. Simply put, everything here is on a gigantic scale.

Finish at Luxor Temple. Reigning supreme as one of Egypt's most extraordinary archaeological gems. the temple was built over 3,000 years ago. Marvel at the soaring columns and colossal statues, adorned with intricate hieroglyphics and reliefs depicting scenes from ancient Egyptian mythology and history

This morning you will disembark your cruise ship and make your way to one of Egypt’s most prized attractions, Valley of the Kings. Located on the west bank of the Nile River in Egypt, this ancient burial ground served as the final resting place for pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom era. Spanning over 500 years, from the 16th to the 11th century BCE, it contains around 63 tombs, including Tutankhamun's famous tomb. These tombs were carved into the rock and adorned with intricate paintings and hieroglyphics. Discovered in the 18th century, the Valley of the Kings remains a significant archaeological site, giving us valuable insights into the ancient Egyptian burial customs and beliefs.

Hatshepsut Temple is quite like nothing else among Egypt’s famous temples. Built during the reign of Queen Hatshepsut in the 15th century BC and dedicated to the sun god, Amun-Ra, the temple’s backdrop of towering cliffs makes for an impressive sight. 

Queen Hatshepsut was a unique and trailblazing figure in ancient Egypt. As a female ruler, she defied societal norms and broke through the gender barrier, ascending to the throne and ruling Egypt effectively for over two decades. Her reign symbolized female empowerment and challenged traditional gender roles, setting an inspiring precedent for future generations of female leaders.

Start your Amman city tour at Jebel al-Qala'a (the Citadel), with its remains of the Roman Temple of Hercules, Umayyad Palace and excellent views over downtown. The National Archaeological Museum, home to ancient findings from the whole country, is located on the Citadel grounds. Continue to the impressive Roman Theatre, the largest in Jordan, with room for 6,000 spectators. The small Folklore Museum and Museum of Popular Traditions are adjacent to the Theatre.

Next, visit the Greco-Roman City of Jerash, also known as the “City of the thousand columns”. Jerash showcases the grandeur of Imperial Rome (and is sometimes referred to as the Pompeii of the East). It is considered one of the largest and most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the World outside Italy. As the most pristine Decapolis City (meaning ten cities in Greek) in the modern world, Jerash’s prosperity can be admired in the collonaded main street and lovely Oval Piazza.

Proceed to the Old Town of Salt, with its remarkable architectural and civic heritage. Lose yourself in the bustling souks with vibrant markets of spices, textiles, and handmade crafts. Don't forget to sample the traditional Jordanian delicacies, such as Mansaf, a succulent lamb dish served with fragrant rice and yogurt sauce.

Today we leave Amman heading south toward Petra along the Kings Hwy, one of Jordan’s most famous and historic roads.

Your first stop is Mount Nebo. Considered to be one of the most important holy sites in Jordan, Mount Nebo features ruins from the 4th to the 6th century with marvellous mosaics adorning the grounds of the church still visible.  

The view from the summit provides a panorama of the Holy Land and, to the north, a more limited one of the valley of the River Jordan

Next, visit the Christian Town of Madaba, also known as ‘The City of Mosaics’. You will be visiting the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, where we will see the masterpiece of Madaba, a Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land dating back to the 6th century. We will also visit the Archaeological Park, which houses the remains of several Byzantine churches, including the amazing mosaics of the Church of the Virgin.

Wadi Mujib

As we continue south, prepare yourself for the breathtaking Wadi Al Mujib, a gorge proudly known as “The Grand Canyon” of Jordan. it features some of Jordan's most breathtaking views, and we’ll stop here so you get a change to enjoy the beautiful panoramic view.

Kerak Castle

The Crusader's Castle has a diverse history dated from the Byzantine to the Mamluk period. Here, you will get to know the architectural military brilliance of the Crusaders.

Afterward we make our way to Petra.

Today is set to be one of the great highlights of your time in Jordan. Please note, you’ll have flexibility in how far you choose to walk within the site.

We journey to Petra, the legendary Rose-Red City, half as old as time. Founded by the Nabataeans over 2,000 years ago, Petra is a remarkable archaeological city carved directly into rose-hued sandstone cliffs, filled with hidden tombs, temples, and ancient pathways.

Enter Petra through the Siq, a narrow, winding gorge framed by towering rock walls, where anticipation builds with every step. The walk culminates in the breathtaking reveal of the Treasury (Al-Khazneh) — Petra’s most iconic monument, famed for its scale, intricate detail, and glowing sandstone colours.

Beyond the Treasury, the site opens into Petra’s ancient city centre. Here you’ll see the impressive Royal Tombs, carved high into the cliffs and believed to have been the final resting place of Nabataean royalty, as well as the Colonnaded Street, once the main thoroughfare of the city, lined with temples, markets, and public buildings.

For those feeling energetic, there is the option to continue deeper into the site, including the rewarding walk to the Monastery (Ad-Deir). This trail passes rock-cut facades, viewpoints over the surrounding valleys, and leads to one of Petra’s largest and most awe-inspiring monuments.

Little Petra, or Al-Bayda, is a smaller archaeological site near Petra in Jordan. Often considered a "sneak peek" of Petra, it features rock-carved facades, tombs, and temples nestled in narrow sandstone canyons. Unlike Petra, Little Petra is less crowded, offering a quieter, more intimate exploration. It was likely a suburb of Petra, serving as a hub for traders. Visitors can wander through its beautiful canyons, see ancient Nabatean frescoes, and enjoy the serene desert atmosphere, making it a hidden gem for history and nature lovers.

We head south later in the day to the captivating desert of Wadi Rum. It is Jordan's largest desert, and one of the most spectacular landscapes in the world.

We head north today, toward the fascinating Dead Sea.

The Dead Sea is one of the world’s most extraordinary natural treasures, lying at the lowest point on Earth’s surface, more than 430 metres below sea level. Renowned for its intense salinity—almost ten times saltier than the ocean—the water makes floating effortless, giving visitors the surreal experience of drifting on its shimmering surface.

Rich in minerals such as magnesium, calcium, and potassium, the Dead Sea has been prized for centuries for its healing and therapeutic qualities. Cleopatra herself is said to have favoured the area for beauty treatments, and today, its black mud is used in skin therapies around the world. The surrounding landscapes, with their stark mountains and desert views, add to the sense of otherworldly beauty.
